Every community has more potential than we often realize. It’s in the places and spaces we already have, the local businesses and organizations that contribute to community life, and the parks, facilities and gathering places that bring people together. But it’s also in the less visible assets: the skills, knowledge, creativity, relationships, culture, leadership and lived experience of the people who call the community home. Community Asset Mapping helps us see both: the tangible assets we can touch and use, and the intangible assets that connect, inspire and strengthen a community.
In this engaging workshop, you’ll learn how to identify and map these assets, uncover opportunities that may be hiding in plain sight and connect existing resources in ways that can spark new ideas and action. You’ll stop focusing on the question, “What are we missing?” and start considering, “What do we already have, and what could we create with it?” Participants will leave with a new lens for seeing their community and practical tools to help turn existing strengths into new possibilities.
