More than 1,800 athletes, coaches and officials will converge in Weyburn to share in the thrill of competition and camaraderie on the provincial stage. Upwards of 1,000 community volunteers will be recruited to welcome thousands of visitors to the area during the seven days of Games competition.
Athletes will qualify for the Games through a tryouts process, otherwise known as District Playdowns. Each sport process varies as to how team selections are conducted.
Details about District Playdowns are still being decided and will be released in each sports Technical Package. Technical Packages will be released in late 2026.
Sports for the 2028 Saskatchewan Summer Games in Weyburn include: Archery, Athletics, Baseball (M), Basketball (M&F), Canoe/Kayak, Rowing, Soccer (M&F), Softball (F), Special Olympics – Bocce, Swimming, Tennis, Triathlon and Volleyball (M&F).
