SUMMARY:Making Your Meetings Work
DESCRIPTION:Meetings are where important decisions happen – but without clear and consistency\, they can be unproductive. Whether you’re using Robert’s Rules of Order or another meeting management system\, the key is to be intentional and consistent in your approach. \nKnowing how to run or contribute to an effective meeting helps foster board collaboration\, allowing board members to be more effective! \nThis meeting will help build your confidence in meetings. Facilitator Tracy Douglass will cover essential meeting principles\, common trends\, and best practices for productive meeting culture. \nIn this meeting\, attendees will learn: the key principles of effective meeting management\, how to structure discussions and decision making\, the role of motions\, voting and consensus-building\, and explore common meeting terminology. \nTracy has extensive experience in roles such as front-line service delivery\, program planning\, board membership\, treasurer\, vice-chair and chairperson. Her career has been primarily within the non-profit sector\, specializing in program delivery\, leadership\, volunteer management and board governance consulting. \nMaking Your Meeting Work: Explore Effective Meeting Structures will take place June 5 from 12:00pm – 1:30pm over Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Parkland Valley Sport\, Culture and Recreation District’s Annual General Meeting will take place Wednesday\, June 18\, 2025. \nThe AGM itself begins at 7:00pm at St. Mary’s Cultural Centre\, located at 240 Wellington Avenue\, Yorkton\, SK. \nGuest Speaker is Jummai Umar – Fostering Community Involvement: Welcoming and Engaging Newcomers. This session aims to encourage communities to actively engage in creating inclusive and welcoming environments. It explores actionable approaches for integrating newcomers and involving them in community activities. \nRegistration and Delegate Voting information has been sent to eligible voting members. The registration and delegate voting form must be returned to Parkland Valley office by June 11\, 2025 at 4:00pm.  \nParkland Valley District is also looking for volunteer board members. Board Nomination Forms must be submitted by June 11\, 2025 at 4:00pm to have them posted on our website prior to the AGM. Board Nominations will continue to be accepted until motions cease at the AGM.
