DESCRIPTION:A well planned board meeting helps ensure effective board minutes are captured. Board meetings and minutes are a tangible record of the meeting for the board of directors and a source of information for those who were not able to attend. \nThis workshop is designed to help board members work as a team to improve the quality of its meetings and ensure what transpired within the meeting is recorded in an appropriate format and level of detail. \nParticipants will learn: \n\nCommon meeting guidelines\, including rules of order\nSteps to preparing for a board meeting\nTypes of meetings and the best style of minutes for these meetings\nIdentifying various styles of decision-making\nIn-camera meetings and how to record these minutes\nHow to record action items in the minutes\n\nFacilitated by Carissa Caruk-Ganczar\, a Certified Leadership Coach with her company Flourish Leadership Development. SUMMARY:KAIROS Blanket Exercise
DESCRIPTION:The KAIROS Blanket Exercise is an interactive and experiential teaching tool used to raise awareness and increase the understanding of the historic and contemporary relationship between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. \nIn partnership with the City of Melville and Yorkton Tribal Council\, a KAIROS Blanket Exercise will take place in Melville at the Cornerstone Event Centre\, located inside the CN Community Centre\, at 575 2nd Avenue West on February 12\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:Leading in the non-profit sector requires the skill to build partnerships and networks to further the organization’s mission and impact.  \nIn this workshop you will learn to identify what partnerships are advantageous and how to lay the framework for a successful partnership. Communication and conflict resolution techniques within this context will also be introduced. \nLearning objectives include:  \n\nIdentification and definition of a partnership – what makes a partnership?\nParticipants will improve and increase their knowledge and understanding of why and when to consider a partnership with another organization.\nThe challenges to consider when beginning a partnership with another non-profit organization and/or for profit organization.\nThe importance of leadership\, building teams\, communication and dealing with conflict in the overall details of a partnership will be discussed.\nThe importance of volunteers to non-profits and partnerships.\nNetworking skills for your organization to build stronger partnerships within and beyond your non-profit.\n\nFacilitated by Wendy Bulloch\, the owner and/principal of Building Up\, Strategies for Building Partnerships and Networking is a learning opportunity you don’t want to miss. DESCRIPTION:Don’t forget to fill out your Sask Lotteries Community Grant Program (CGP) Application Form! \nThe 2026 – 2027 CGP Applications were emailed to each community within the Parkland Valley District along with links to access CGP forms\, guidelines\, funding request forms and other information. \nCommunities should watch for the physical package in their mailboxes now that the Canada Post strike is over. \nOnce your 2026 – 2027 CGP Application is complete\, be sure to email or fax it to the Sask Lotteries Trust Office. Their contact information is listed at the bottom of the application form. Deadline to submit your application is February 28\, 2024. Late applications will not be accepted. \nDidn’t receive an CGP Application Form or have questions about the grant itself? Reach out to us and we will forward it to you. \n
